Departing Geues mid morning heading for Yorke Peninsular and the River Land. 1hr 40 minutes from camp site to Eyre Hwy, again no tree pruning required. Pulled into the old Yalata servo to top up the drinking water from the rain water tanks and inflate tires. A vehicle that had passed us earlier was looking for 'FUEL' - more about Dino & Frank later!
Camped one night at Pildappa Rock, near Minnipa a rather neat rock formation
Water collection dam, used in a bygone era!
An easy walk up onto the rock
The sign say's it all - except we are not goin' across Australia just yet!
Port Pirie train and silo
Wallaroo silo's comparable to Port Lincoln. We toured around while waiting for cousin Ian & Nola whom have just relocated from Port Lincoln to Kadina to arrive home from Adelaide. Meanwhile we rang Clarrie and Helen - from Hopetoun WA. Surprise they are just down the road and would meet us next day at the Gap. A free camp site on the coast north of Port Victoria.
Clarrie and Helen have left their 39' bus at home for their travel around Tassie. A small camper trailer for the next 6 months - perhaps!
Lap DOG'S - Pepper & Susie!
Caught up with Clarrie & Helen - tested out their new Baby Q with a roast = excellent!
Rocks and shallow water make for limited fishing off the beaches
Blended in well! Neat country town's, nothing very far aprt approx 22k's in any direction and you run into a town
Both Susie's comfortable!
Corney Point bay
Some folks hiding out of the wind at Corney Point Light House?
Oh! it's Sue & Helen
Wauraltee Beach - camped here several nights
Aussie humour!
Another roast demolished as the moon rises. We left Clarrie & Helen at their friends farm near Warroka. Checked out Yorke Town and headed back to Waraultee Beach. Most beach camp sites are shire managed with limited boat launching, unless you are in a caravan park and the town ramps have parking / launching meter's.
Pity it was dessicated!
Local visitor
Fresh damper - soon!
Coffee with Dino & Felicia - Dino was the fellow looking for fuel at Yalata Servo.
He was running low with the head winds, with 55k's to Nundroo. We had 20 liter of petrol for our gen set. Dino was so happy he handed me $40. Where you headed - Yorke Peninsular! We live there - Port Victoria - drop by for a coffee - so we did!
The ROCKS - near Port Wakefield - magic camp spot all to ourselves.
What's this a police car zoom's into place and blocks the Hwy at Turo, next we see why - a house is literally coming down the road!
The Murray is sure ripping thru Blanche Town, The white sign on the building right is the 1956 flood level.
Blanche Town weir. 250,000 megalitres a day.
Next stop Cadell - camp friendly town. Camp site on the River Murray, situated between Morgan and Wakerie.
Free Cadell ferry - runs 24 hours. Off to Morgan for fruit and veggies as we have to chew down our stocks before entering the fruit fly zone. Morgan has limited supplies better to re-stock at Wakerie (Coles & Woolies at least)
Well kept lawns, rubbish bins and toilets.
Clarrie and Helen caught up with us, and launched the tinnie for a river cruise. OH YES! the dogs also enjoyed the tour!
5 days by the river, a great meal at the local club - visitor's welcomed.
The warmest day and no wind for a change made the river cruise very pleasant.
BUT__
Helen & Clarrie off to Tassie, we are off to Port Lincoln!
Just before Crystal Brook a tire plug blew! Appox 20,000k's this being the third plug, now requires three. Once again our smart tire sensors saved the day!
